A Coy Blog (32a Lt Kendall)January 2012Over the last couple of weeks, 32A multiple has had a diverse and exciting time, both on the ground and back in PB2. We have taken part in company level operations as well as conducting independent patrols in order to further our understanding of the area. All the boys have fought bravely and worked well interacting with the locals, the Afghan National security forces and the other A Company call signs. Back in camp we were privy to an entertainment show that included comedians and dancing girls. The highlight, punctuated by the laughter and interaction with the audience, was one of the comedians who happily targeted individuals with no mercy. The NCOs continue to develop their in depth study of the PB underground networks, building powerful alliances with those of influence in the base, acquiring all kinds of luxuries and soliciting gossip to the multiple’s advantage. Rfn Hicks has built up quite a fan base with the locals as well as our Afghan partners with his boyish (read girly) good looks and flirtatious banter. He is only challenged by Rfn Gourlay and Rfn Poyner who have been ‘targeted’ by their resident interpreter of the other persuasion. Their encouragement is only fuelling their demand. 32B in CP BAGH have been busy conducting partnered patrols with the ANA, whilst winterising their CP as quickly as the temperature is dropping. The CP is now impressively comfortable and a welcome stopover for our other half when passing on patrol. Although, the adjustment from life in PB2 to the feral routine of 32B is ever more challenging as the native gap between the two locations expands. Everyone is boosted regularly by the arrival of mail and welfare packages from loved ones back home and are most appreciative of all their support.
Keep checking back for more 2 Rifles updates.
